Reflection

Global
Awareness

Everything is connected, and that is something I have already learned, but here at FIU, I gained more knowledge on just how everything is intertwined. In my classes, on my study abroad trip, and my time on campus. Water is an issue in Flint, Michigan, but it is also an issue for countries in Africa, and the Middle East. High rates of incarceration are a problem in the U.S., but not in other countries, so a solution to our problems can be found elsewhere. Wherever there is a problem, there is a solution. Being aware of of these problems, has instilled in me the need to solve them.

Global
Engagement

I plan to become an international lawyer. I wish to help solve problems domestically, particularly within our justice system, but also abroad. I don't want to limit my services to just one country. I want to do everything  within my power to make this world better little by little. To accomplish this I will be attending law school while simultaneously working as a behavior analyst to help those with autism. Through my  personal life and professonal career, I will demonstrate my global engagement.

Global
Perspective

At FIU I have had the opportunity to meet people from various backgrounds, countries, states, and religions. Many have become my friends, and through them I have learned to understand and appreciate others' viewpoints on different topics. While I may not agree with their view, I understand that it is just different from mine, and that its important to have these open discussions of differing opinions.
